Local Electric, Plumbing and Air Company Knocks Out Hunger in Our Community

MONTGOMERY & OPELIKA, AL— For two years and running, Montgomery and Opelika based Dixie Electric, Plumbing & Air has worked diligently to lower the amount of food insecure families in their community in an effort called Feed the Need. For every new Dixie Cares Plan membership that is purchased, Dixie donates 7 meals to partnered food banks in the area. In 2021, they reached their goal of donating over 7,500 meals. In 2022, with the support of the local community, they’ve donated 9,373. That’s a total of more than 16,800 meals in just two years!

Dixie Electric, Plumbing & Air is a one-stop shop for all of your home’s essential systems. From toilets to circuit breakers, air conditioners to landscape lighting, they care for all aspects of your residence. As a Dixie Cares Plan Member, you receive 4 complimentary inspections a year including air conditioning, heating, plumbing and electric. You also receive front-of-the-line service, a 15% savings on repairs and lifetime warranties on select installations. Preventative maintenance programs like the Dixie Cares Plan keep your home running efficiently, lowering the price of monthly utility bills and saving you money by preventing costly repairs.  

In 2023, Dixie Electric, Plumbing & Air has set a goal to donate 10,000 meals to Feed the Need.  With the support of local food banks, media vendors and the community, owners John and Noble Yelverton believe they can achieve that and more stating, “Since 1908, our main goal has been to do everything we can to give back to our great community and this is an incredible opportunity to do so.”
