A plumber has many tools of the trade. A drain snake, a plunger, assorted wrenches and pliers. But many times a plumber’s best friend is a hydro jetter. Dixie Electric, Plumbing & Air has invested in the very latest in this technology to help remove drainpipe blockages from homes in Auburn and Montgomery, AL.

    What is hydro jetting?

Dixie still gets this question quite often. The answer is it uses high pressure water jets to clean the inside of drainpipes. It’s a bit like using a pressure washer to clean your driveway, but in this case the specialized hose and nozzle is inserted into the sewer pipe to remove blockages. The water pressure is so great the water jets can cut through tree roots and remove dirt, grease and sludge. Because no harsh chemicals are used hydro jetting is environmentally sound.

    Signs you need hydro jetting

Not every slow or clogged drain calls for the use of a hydro jetter, but here are some situations where it makes sense:

    • You’ve tried other drain cleaning methods, but the blockage returns

    • Tree roots or built up sludge has caused severe blockages

    • The main sewer line backs up frequently

    Clogs are no fun

Clogged drains can cause water damage and sewage backups. The result can be unsafe and unsanitary conditions in your home. If you notice things like slow drains, problems flushing the toilet, or gurgling sounds from your plumbing, don’t hesitate to call in a professional Dixie plumber to find out what the problem is.

    Don’t wait for a blockage

Regular jetting as part of a maintenance program can keep the drain lines free of tree roots and potential blockages. Delaying hydro jetting until a blockage happens only makes the job more complicated. Having it done annually is a great way to keep your drain system working properly.
