Dehumidification Solutions in Central Alabama
If you’ve spent any amount of time in Central Alabama during the brutal summer months, you know that our summers are more than just hot – it’s incredibly humid, too! During the peak of the summer, it’s likely that you’re running your home’s air conditioning system daily to keep your home comfortable. But what about those months outside of the peak time period where it may be preferable to turn off the air conditioner and open the windows?
While opening the windows and turning off the air conditioner can cool your house down during the evening (and can be great for your electric bill!), you’re also letting in all of the outside humidity, which can cause a multitude of problems around your home – not to mention, it could be uncomfortable for you and your family. Let our professional HVAC technicians at Dixie Electric, Plumbing & Air solve the indoor humidity issue with a whole-house dehumidifier and stay comfortable in your home throughout the year.
What is a Whole House Dehumidifier?
A whole-house dehumidifier is a machine that works in conjunction with your home’s HVAC system and ductwork. The whole house dehumidifier works very similarly to a portable dehumidifier, but on a much larger scale. These machines are designed to remove the moisture from the air that is circulating throughout your home, keeping the humidity down and the temperature comfortable during warm summer months.
The dehumidifier works using the return ducts, sucking up all of the air to recirculate through the HVAC machine. During this process, the dehumidifier cools the air as it runs through the machine, condensing the moisture from the air, which is then drained from the machine. The dehumidification system then pushes the dry air into the HVAC system, where it is warmed or cooled to the desired temperature and circulated into the home.
While this may sound complicated, our professional, certified HVAC technicians at Dixie Electric, Plumbing & Air are here to help you understand just how a whole-house dehumidification system works and why it’s beneficial to your home and your family during the hot summer months in Alabama.
