You begin with, “Honey, it’s cold in my office. Turn the heat up before my fingers turn blue.”
The husband responds, “I don’t know what you’re talking about! I’m in the family room watching the game and I’ve already stripped down to my boxers and T-shirt and I’m still sweating.”
Sound all too familiar?
Dixie Electric, Plumbing & Air knows uneven heating or cooling is one of the most common complaints from homeowners. Clients tell us one room is too hot while another is too cold. Despite huge advances in the HVAC industry, the problem still happens. One reason is we are building larger and larger homes. It’s a challenge to cool or heat all that square footage evenly. There are ways our professional technicians can help end this seemingly never-ending family feud.
SUPPLEMENTAL SYSTEMS:
Consider adding a ductless mini-split heat pump to supplement your current system. They are also called ventless air conditioners, but with heat pump technology can provide heating AND cooling. As the name implies, the conditioned air is delivered directly to a specific room without going through ducts. Many industry experts believe ductless HVAC is the wave of the future. As many as 4 indoor air handlers can be connected to one outside condenser. Each handler can be set at different temperatures for more personal comfort.
SYSTEM-WIDE ZONING:
If mini splits are not an option, then let Dixie talk with you about system-wide zoning as part of your current HVAC system. It’s a method of connecting multiple thermostats to one control panel. The thermostats control dampers inside your ducts allowing you to direct more or less heating or cooling to specific areas in the home. Because this is also considered an energy saving improvement, you might be able to write off some of the expense on your taxes. Make sure to check with your accountant as it depends on your location and the specific system you install.
DUCTWORK:
In some cases, the fault may lie with the ductwork in your home. Dixie can test the ducts for leaks, make sure they are the right size for your system, and look for any other reasons the proper amount of air may not be getting to some rooms. A central system can lose as much as 30% of its efficiency as the conditioned air is delivered to the different rooms.
Our point is this: You don’t have to suffer with uneven heating and cooling in your home. If you’re ready to end the household temperature bickering, now is the time to get help from our professional technicians at Dixie Electric, Plumbing & Air. You can depend on Dixie for all of your service, repair, and maintenance needs.
