The countdown is on! In just a few days thousands of walkers and runners will converge in Montgomery, Alabama for the 2019 Joy to Life Foundation’s Walk of Life for Breast Cancer. Dixie Electric, Plumbing & Air is proud to once again be a major sponsor for this event. It’s coming up on Saturday, April 27, 2019. The 5K walk and run start at 8:30 a.m. (arrive by 8:00) and winds through the historic streets of Montgomery. The after-race party is in Riverfront Park. That’s where the Dixie booth will be, so stop by to say hello and grab a glass of free lemonade.
We are very proud to work closely with the Joy to Life Foundation in its efforts to raise breast cancer awareness. Money raised in the annual Walk of Life helps the foundation in its mission to provide free mammograms and breast cancer screening to Alabama women who might otherwise not have access to them because of economic reasons. It was founded in 2001 and since then the Foundation has provided more than 95,000 mammograms directly and indirectly. Lives have been saved in every Alabama county. It is a great cause and you can learn more about it at their website.
Every year the race is a display of pink wigs, pink shirts, and pink tutus. Many of the runners and walkers carry personal messages to honor those who lost the fight against cancer and those who have survived. There’s still time to register your team and help in the fundraising efforts.
