John and Noble Yelverton, brothers and owners of the family-owned business, are excited about the award, “This is a great representation of our joint team efforts as a business and as a vehicle to help the community we have served since 1908. The Dixie Difference always comes back to continually doing the right thing at the highest level of Golden Rule service for our customers and staff.”

Dixie wins the Best Small Business Gold Award in the 51-100 employee category. The Silver Award recipient is The Hound in Auburn; and Larry Puckett Chevrolet, located in Prattville, is recognized as the Bronze Award recipient.

Award presentations were held at the 2019 Alabama Small Business of the Year ceremony in conjunction with the Annual Meeting on December 6, 2019, at the Harbert Center in Birmingham. All nominees are judged in four categories: Community Involvement, Chamber Participation, Business Success, and Overall Deservedness. An out-of-state committee reviews all nominees for final decisions.

“Small business is the backbone of our state’s economy. We all know that small businesses provide the most jobs and make the most economic impact. In short, small business is essential and vitally important. The small businesses that are recognized in the Alabama Small Business of the Year Awards truly represent the best of the best. They have demonstrated their continued commitment to not only their business success, but to giving back to their communities and to their chambers of commerce,” says Jeremy Arthur, CCE, IOM, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama.
